World Cup: Snubbed by Nigeria, favoured in Switzerland’s Qatar list
Arinze Noah Okafor, now a Swiss International, at the early stages of his career had declared his intentions of playing for the Super Eagles, but was snubbed.
“Everybody wants to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria especially watching Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Jay Jay Okocha who are my idols while growing up,” Okafor told SportingLife 4 years ago.
“It will surely be a dream come true. I also have family in Nigeria and they will really be happy seeing me represent Nigeria,” he concluded as per the interview.
However, coach Gernot Rohr looked away from the intentions of the rising superstar who was playing for FC Basel at that time.
Today he’s been included in the squad of Swiss for the Qatar World Cup; he’s represented Swiss on several occasions.
“FIFA World Cup, A Dream Com True,” the striker admitted on social media.
