Crystal Palace Midfielder Michael Olise has stated the reason why he shunned the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the Les Bleus of France despite being extended an invitation by Nigeria.
In 2020, then Super Eagles Coach, Gernot had invited and placed a 19-year-old Olise on a standby list for last two qualifier matches of Nigeria against Benin Republic and Lesotho 2020; the match was however postponed due to the Corona virus pandemic.

Reacting on the reason he made a U-Turn and switch his attention to France, the Algerian confirmed it’s because of his love for France.
“I have ways wanted to play for France even though I had England, Nigeria and Algeria as other options,” Olise was quoted by Owngoal Nigeria.
He added, “In the French set up I want to be a key player and I know it starts with getting regular run of games for Crystal Palace.”
